The Governor affirms his commitment to continuously support and create an enabling environment for creatives, ensuring access to necessary equipment for the pursuit and promotion of their artistic endeavors.
Represented by the Commissioner for Arts, Culture, and Tourism, Uyi Oduwa-Malaka, Governor Obaseki assures the six German filmmakers, collaborating with their Nigerian counterparts, a rewarding experience in Benin City. He emphasizes that the State Government has diligently furnished all essential requirements for their training.
The ongoing training and workshop sessions, hosted at the Victor Uwaifo Creative Hub in Benin City, are slated to span 21 days. The program will culminate in the production of a short fiction or documentary by the collaborative teams, marking a significant milestone in the exchange initiative spearheaded by the Edo State Ministry of Arts, Culture, and Tourism.
Commissioner Uyi Oduwa-Malaka expresses gratitude to the German filmmakers and Nigerian participants for embracing this undertaking. She highlights the Obaseki-led administration’s dedication to positioning Edo State as the premier film production hub in Nigeria. Notably, the Governor inaugurated the Edo Film Project, with Mr. Kabat Eseosa Egbon leading the team, while the State Government provides incentives, including free accommodation, transportation, and security, for filmmakers choosing Edo State as their production location.
The visiting filmmakers are encouraged to explore the diverse tourist attractions within the State during their program. Permanent Secretary Iryn Omorogiuwa extends well-wishes for success in their endeavors and assures the visiting team of the Ministry’s unwavering support throughout their stay.
