The National Chairman of the All Progressive Congress, Adams Oshiomhole, on Monday, led some members of the party’s National Working Committee to a meeting with the Chief of Staff to the President, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari.
The meeting, holding at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, is believed to be part of efforts to resolve the crisis engulfing the ruling party as a result of the disqualification of the Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, from participating in the governorship primary of the party in the state.
President Muhammadu Buhari may have summoned the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party to a meeting with the Chief of Staff to the President, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari, at the State House.
APC Screening Committee had last week disqualified the incumbent governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, from contesting in the primaries ahead of the governorship election in the state.
The committee said it discovered that the governori’s did not produce the certificate he claimed to have obtained a Higher School Certificate from the Institute of Continuing Education in Benin and also observed inconsistency in University of Ibadan Certificate
APC Appeal Committee also uphold Obaseki’s disqualification even without the governor appealing the disqualification.
The appeal committee noted that Obaseki claimed to have obtained a Higher School Certificate from the Institute of Continuing Education in Benin but that he did not produce the certificate and that the document he produced only attested to his attendance
There has been a frosty relationship between the governor and his estranged godfather Oshiomohole.
