Residents of Obaagun Community in Ifelodun local government areas of Osun state have appealed to the state governor, Mr Gboyega Oyetola, to extend the dividend of democracy to the ancient community.
According to the President, Obaagun Development Union, Barrister Kayode Olowolagba in an interview with THE CONCLAVE in Osogbo, on Wednesday, said the residents wanted the governor to rehabilitate the township roads as they had become impassable for motorists.
Olowolagba lamented the poor condition of the roads, saying they had been in deplorable condition for long.
He said the roads needed the urgent attention of government.
Olowolagba, who expressed dismay for non-inclusion of the road by the state government in the recently approved township roads for the state, called on the state government to urgently come to the aid of the people of Obaagun.
The President, who emphasized that the residents of the town were peace loving and would always be in support of any government of the day, maintained that the road was significant to the economic advancement of the town hence the need for government to urgently come to the aid of the community.
While corroborating Olowolagba’s claim, another resident of the town, Prince Lukuman Atobatele said the town had not tasted dividends of democracy and called on governor Gboyega Oyetola to make Obaagun township road top priority in the interest of fairness and justice.
Prince Atobatele lamented that the town had suffered neglect in the past years as the community lacked some basic amenities of life.
