His Royal Majesty, Omo N’Oba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo, Ewuare II, Oba of Benin and the Benin Traditional Council on Tuesday congratulated Governor Godwin Obaseki if Edo State, on his re-election.
The Oba, in a press release on Wednesday, signed by the Secretary, Benin Traditional Council, Frank Irabor, again said the Benin Throne was non-partisan.
He said that the people should be allowed on the Election Day to speak because the voice of the people is the voice of God.
He urged all the good people of Edo State to support the Governor in his development strides in other to take Edo Slate to the next level.
The Omo N’Oba N’Edo also thanked President Muhammadu Buhari for ensuring that Edo State election was free, fair and violence-free.
He also thanked all the candidates of the political parties for adhering to the advice for a violence-free election given to them during the peace meeting in the Oba’s Palace on 2″‘ September, 2020 which had been widely acclaimed to have doused the tension that was building up before the election.
He also appreciated the National Peace Commission headed by General Abdulsalaml Abubakar for the signing of the peace accord among the gubernatorial candidates thereafter.
The Oba also appreciated the Independent National Electoral Commission headed by Prof. Mahmood Yakubu for a successful and peaceful election in the state.
He said the Palace was also grateful to all the security agencies for a job well done.
