Chief Dan Orbih, National Vice Chairman for the South-South Zone of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has accused the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) of defying a Federal High Court order by suspending him.

In a letter to the Acting National Chairman, Orbih, through his solicitors, demanded the immediate and unconditional retraction of the press statement announcing his suspension and all related actions.

Orbih, who was elected under the party’s constitution, claims his suspension is part of a smear campaign by disgruntled party members, including the Ward Executive Committee of Ward 4, Etsako Central Local Government, led by Paulinus Ebode.

Orbih filed a lawsuit (Suit No. FHC/ABJ/CS/601/2023) in the Federal High Court, Abuja, resulting in an interim injunction on May 10, 2023, preventing the PDP from suspending him. This order, served to all relevant parties including the PDP National Secretariat, was extended on May 28, 2023.

Despite the court’s order, the NWC suspended Orbih on July 10, 2023. In response, Orbih’s legal team has demanded immediate retraction of the NWC’s press statement regarding his suspension and dissolution of the six-man committee led by Amb. Taofeek Arapaja, formed to investigate him.

Orbih warned that failure to comply with these demands would result in legal actions, including contempt proceedings against the NWC members and the disciplinary committee.
