NSCDC, others assure new interior minister on safeguarding internal security

The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, has assured the newly appointed Minister of Interior, Honourable Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo on the cotps’ commitment yo safeguarding the nation’s security.

Dr. Audi conveyed the unwavering commitment and cooperation of the NSCDC and other agencies under the Ministry of Interior in safeguarding the internal security and well-being of the vast Nigerian population.

According to Afolabi Babawale, the National Public Relations Officer of the NSCDC, Dr. Audi reiterated this commitment during a meeting on Monday.

This gathering marked the inaugural interaction between the new minister, service chiefs, and key stakeholders within the Ministry of Interior.

“I want to affirm that we are fully prepared to collaborate with you and effectively deliver the benefits of democracy to Nigerians, aligning with President Bola Tinubu’s agenda of renewed hope.

“Furthermore, we are dedicated to upholding our ongoing efforts to protect the nation’s internal security,” Dr. Audi assured the minister.

In an earlier speech, Honourable Tunji-Ojo, who had served two terms as a member of the National Assembly representing Akoko North East and Akoko North West federal constituency, emphasized the importance of trust, cooperation, and patriotism among the agencies under his ministry and the service chiefs.

He urged them to synergize effectively, and he expressed his readiness to lead by example.

“Our ministry holds a position of considerable importance and strategic significance within the country, as we shoulder responsibilities related to internal security, identification, and other critical matters.

“Our actions and decisions impact the lives of over 200 million individuals, and a mere momentary lapse could have severe consequences for the nation,”the minister declared.

Honourable Tunji-Ojo extended a call for unwavering cooperation from the NSCDC and other associated agencies.

He urged them to engage him intellectually as they collectively “strive to drive positive changes and achieve lasting results in the long term.”
