The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, (NSCDC), Dr Ahmed Audi, said no one should doubt the commitment of President Muhammadu Buhari to security of life and property of both Nigerians and foreigners living in the country.
Speaking during the unveiling of the newly -established Female Squad of the NSCDC at the Parade Ground of the Corps in Abuja on Monday, Audi said: “I wish to reiterate that, President Muhammadu Buhari GCON, is concerned about the lives and well – being of Nigerians and foreigners in our nation and will continue to do everything possible to protect lives, properties and prevent avoidable deaths in the nation.”
He lamented that: “The quest for security stability in our country continue to remain a holy grail with a ceaseless and unabated cases of banditry, kidnapping, armed robbery, insurgency, terrorism among others. All these have continued to threaten our country’s cohesion, stability and territorial integrity.”
Audi, while stating that the Civil Defence Female Squad would definitely complement the efforts of their male counterparts and also work together with sister agencies, said: “I invite all the stakeholders in the sector to join hands with us in proactively implementing measures and undertaking actions that will ultimately neutralize any form of aggression and provide assurance for public safety.”
The Controller General told the Female Squad to comply strictly with the rules of engagement based on universal best practices in any security operation they may be involved in either within or outside the nation.
He noted that trainings have been availed the officers of NSCDC in a deliberate efforts at re-vitalizing, rejuvenating, re-energizing and re-modifying the Corps to world class standard for effective service delivery and professionalism.
Audi said with the recent Government proposed Safe School Initiative, the Corps made bold to express readiness to confront kidnapping and banditry activities among others within and around school environments.
