The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Commandant General’s Special Intelligence Squad has arrested three suspects for oil pipeline vandalism, oil theft, and illegal dealings in petroleum products at Umuodo, Umuajuloke Community in Omuma Local Government Area of Rivers State.
During a briefing on Monday, the CG’s SIS Commander, DC Apollo Dandaura, stated that sustained intelligence led to the discovery of an illegal oil refinery at the crime scene.
The operation resulted in the seizure of a large quantity of illegally refined petroleum products suspected to be Automotive Gas Oil (AGO).
“Based on credible intelligence, we swung into action and arrested three suspects at the crime scene with large quantities of illegally refined AGO stored in metallic drums and cellophane bags,” Dandaura said.

The arrested suspects were Happiness Nwankwo, 45, Nnoma Nwankwo, 30, and Favour Amadi, all from Omuma in Rivers State.
Recovered exhibits include numerous drum ovens containing stolen and siphoned crude oil, industrial hoses used to tap into well-heads, large quantities of stolen crude oil stored in cellophane bags and kegs, metal and plastic buckets, wheelbarrows, shovels, and galvanized metal pipes.
Investigations have commenced to determine the involvement of the suspects and identify their sponsors. “At the conclusion of a thorough investigation, those found culpable will face prosecution,” Dandaura assured.
