The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has called on organized labour to reconsider its planned nationwide strike and adhere to legal procedures to avoid a breakdown of law and order.
Acknowledging the right to advocate for workers’ interests, the NPF stressed the need for compliance with laws governing such actions.
In a statement, Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, highlighted the Federal Government’s stance that the proposed strike was illegal and premature, warning that it could escalate tensions and lead to political instability.
The NPF urged labour to continue discussions at the Tripartite Committee on the new minimum wage and to postpone the strike to prevent public hardship and maintain national stability.
Adejobi assured Nigerians that the NPF had made adequate deployments nationwide to ensure public safety and encouraged citizens to carry on with their lawful activities.
He emphasized the importance of responsible action and legal recourse by organized labour to address their grievances.
