Ahead of the 2023 general election, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Wednesday announced the creation of additional 56,873 polling units.
A check on the distribution of the current polling units as tinkered with by the electoral body showed that Northwest had the highest total of 41,671 followed by Southwest with a total of 34,898.
Both zones are leaders in the Northern and Southern regions respectively.
North Central now has 27, 516, South-South- 27,126, Northeast -24,006 and Southeast -21,631 polling units.
The new polling units were products of the merging of voting points and voting settlement units.
