Amid the bustling atmosphere of the ongoing CERAWeek 2024 Conference in Houston, Texas, Mr. Mele Kyari, the Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) of NNPC Ltd., engaged in a pivotal discussion on Wednesday with the leadership of International Oil Companies (IOCs) operating within Nigeria.
During this significant meeting, Kyari extended his appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the implementation of a Presidential Executive Order dedicated to fostering investment within Nigeria’s Oil & Gas Industry.
The order’s primary aim is to attract substantial investment into the sector, thereby positioning Nigeria as the premier investment hub for the oil and gas industry across the African continent.

The collective sentiment among the partners present resonated with acknowledgment of the Executive Order’s far-reaching implications and the considerable value it has already begun to inject into the sector.
This move comes in the wake of President Tinubu’s execution of Policy Directives on March 6th, 2024, which not only seek to improve the investment climate within Nigeria but also aim to solidify Nigeria’s status as the primary investment destination for the oil and gas sector across Africa.
Among the notable figures present at this pivotal engagement were Shane Harris, Chairman/Managing Director of ExxonMobil; Fabrizio Bolondi, Vice Chairman/Managing Director of ENI; Jim Swartz, Vice President of Capital Projects at Chevron; Rick Kennedy of Chevron; Osagie Okunbor, Managing Director of SPDC and Chairman of Shell Companies in Nigeria; and Matthieu Bouyer, Managing Director/CEO of TotalEnergies Upstream Companies in Nigeria.
Furthermore, Mrs. Oritsemeyiwa Eyesan, Executive Vice President of Upstream at NNPC Ltd., and Bala Wunti, Chief Upstream Investment Officer at NNPC Ltd., were also in attendance, further underscoring the significance of this high-profile gathering.
As discussions continue at CERAWeek 2024, the meeting between Mr. Mele Kyari and the IOC chiefs stands as a testament to the collaborative efforts aimed at propelling Nigeria’s Oil & Gas Industry to new heights of prosperity and sustainability.
