The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and its partner, Tantita Security Services, have achieved another significant milestone in their effort to combat crude oil theft in the country.
They have arrested six oil vandals and confiscated a barge that was carrying 700 barrels of illegal crude oil in Opete, which is situated in Udu Local Government Area of Delta State.
This latest operation is part of a concerted effort by the NNPC and other stakeholders to address the scourge of crude oil theft, which has been a persistent problem in Nigeria for many years. The theft of crude oil not only causes significant financial losses for the country but also poses environmental and safety hazards to communities in the vicinity of illegal oil bunkering activities.
