Scores of commuters were stranded in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on Monday, October 20, 2025, following multiple roadblocks mounted by security operatives in Abuja.
It was gathered that security operatives from the Guards Brigade and the FCT Police Command mounted roadblocks at major entry points into the nation’s capital.
The heightened security presence follows the ongoing nationwide protest led by the convener of the #RevolutionNow movement and publisher of Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore, who is demanding the release of detained IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu.

The increased checkpoints and barricades caused massive traffic congestion across key routes, including the Bwari, Zuba, and Nyanya axes, leaving commuters and workers stranded for hours.
There was a heavy traffic at the Kugbo‑Nyanya stretch of the Abuja‑Keffi highway, as motorists heading into the FCT from the Kugbo/Nyanya axis report slow movement, with several lanes blocked by parked vehicles and protest‑related activity.
