The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has suspended the processing of new applications for passports in all passport offices nationwide.
This was disclosed in a circular issued by the Deputy Comptroller General in charge of (PTD), AB Yerima.
The circular stated that the suspension followed a directive from the Minister of Interior on the suspension of processing New Passport Application nationwide.
It added that the directive became necessary to allow enough time to clear backlog of applications sequel to the commencement of new passport regime on 1st of June 2021.
