The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has entered a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ekiti State Government to provide aeronautical meteorological (AEROMET) services at the Ekiti International Cargo Airport.
The initial two-year agreement will see both parties collaborating to equip the airport with essential meteorological technology, ensuring operations meet standards set by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO).
At the MoU signing on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, NiMet’s Director General, Prof. Charles Anosike, emphasized the importance of state partnerships in advancing NiMet’s mission.
He expressed appreciation for Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s support and noted the collaboration would enhance aviation safety at Ekiti’s new cargo airport.
Ekiti State’s Secretary, Prof. Habibat Adubiaro, expressed gratitude for the cooperation and committed the state to fulfilling its responsibilities under the agreement.
The event was attended by Barr. Shola Gabriel, Director of Legal Services at NiMet, and Mr. Tunde Balogun, Permanent Secretary of Ekiti State’s Ministry of Environment.
