Kelechi Iheanacho today hit the back of the net thrice in Leicester City’s premier league match with Sheffield United.
It was Iheanacho’s first-ever Premier League hat-trick for Leicester City, which pushed and returned them up to second place on the table in super style.
It was also a day Iheanacho scored for the third straight game in his Premier League career.
Leicester City now have 56 points from 29 matches, two more than Manchester United, who play later tonight.
Man of the Match, Iheanacho, said he was over the moon to get three goals in a game.
“I am over the moon, delighted, I have been waiting for this day to come, I am grateful to God, to my teammates and the manager for helping me to grow,” he said.
He was also pleased with his partnership with Jamie Vardy, who assisted him twice today.
“I am happy to play alongside Jamie. Playing with him is a joy, he will keep going till he’s 40.
“He’s a team player, he helps everyone in the team.”
The Super Eagles striker set the ball rolling for a glorious 5-0 home win against bottom team Sheffield United when he tucked away a pass by Jamie Vardy in the 39th minute.
Iheanacho then got his second goal in the 69th minute and again Vardy was the provider.
He completed his treble on 78 minutes.
The striker has now scored six goals in the Premier League, one more than he scored all of last season.
