The Committee of Chief Medical Directors and Medical Directors of Federal Tertiary Hospitals in Nigeria (CCMDFTH) has urged the federal government to prioritise healthcare funding and implement the health-related components of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
The call was made during the 112th meeting/2025 Annual General Meeting of the CCMDFTH, held at the Federal Medical Centre, Keffi, Nasarawa State.
The CCMDFTH resolved to appreciate the President and Federal Government for their continuous support and endorsement of policies that improve healthcare delivery in the country; prioritise healthcare funding and implementing the health-related components of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
The Committee called for the release of budgetary allocations.
It also called for the expeditious release of approved budgetary allocations to Federal Tertiary Hospitals to enable them meet their financial commitments.
The Committee commended the Federal Government’s efforts to resolve disputes with health sector unions and urged an early resolution to enable the resumption of full clinical service delivery.
The CCMDFTH also elected new executive members to serve for the next two years.
They include: Chairman, Prof. Saad Ahmed; Vice Chairman, Prof. Onyebuchi Azubuike, Secretary, Dr. Pokop Bupwatda, Treasurer, Dr. Aishatu Shehu Adamu; and Public Relations Officer, Dr. Philip Ugbodaga
The CCMDFTH noted with concern the harrowing effect of the electricity crisis on efficient healthcare delivery in Federal Tertiary Hospitals.
The Committee also commended the efforts of the federal government in re-equipping Federal Tertiary Hospitals and donating drugs to various facilities across the country.
The CCMDFTH’s call for increased funding and support highlights the need for sustained investment in Nigeria’s healthcare sector.
By prioritising healthcare funding and implementing the health-related components of the Renewed Hope Agenda, the federal government can improve healthcare delivery and outcomes in the country.
