Combined teams of Operation WHIRL STROKE Special Forces troops of Sector 2 deployed in Gbise and Zaki Biam in Benue State and Sector 4 from Taraba State have killed two gang members of Gana in Mtan village in Utenge Council Ward of Katsina-Ala Local Government Area of Benue State
Confirming the report, Coordinator Defence Media Operations, Defence Headquarters, Major General John Enenche, said the troops in a special operation raided hideout of the wanted notorious criminal gang, neutralizing two of their members while others fled with various degrees of gunshot wounds.
Enenche added that exploitation revealed that Gana narrowly escaped death with gunshot wounds. He said 1 locally-fabricated machine gun, 6 locally-made rifles, 2 locally-fabricated cartridge guns, 1 dane gun, 2 revolver pistols, 2 Cartridge pistols, 27 rounds of 9mm ammunition, 2 motorcycles,1 camouflage shirt,1 generator set, 1 bag of gun powder and assorted charms were recovered from the gang’s hideout.
The Coordinator Defence Media Operations said Gana’s personal belongings, other items and thatched houses were destroyed.
In another development, troops of Sector 3 deployed at Ondori in Doma Local Government Area of Nasarawa State acting on credible intelligence that a group of Bassa armed militia were planning to attack some Tiv villages over land disputes raided their camp located at Kpelebewa village in Rukubi area of Doma Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
Enenche said the troops apprehended Seven 7 members of the militia dressed in Red shirts in the camp. He said that 1 locally fabricated machine gun, 6 locally fabricated rifles, 2 locally fabricated cartridge guns, 1 Dane gun, 2 revolver pistols, 2 Cartridge firing pistols, 57 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, 29 rounds of 9mm ammunition, and 22 cartridges of ammunition were recovered from them .
He added that 1 dagger, poisoned bows and arrows, desert Camouflage head gears and pouch, 6 phone handsets and some charms were also recovered from their camp.
Enenche said the suspects were currently undergoing interrogation and would be handed over to the Nigeria Police. He said the Military High Command congratulated the troops and requested the general public to continue to provide the Armed Forces with credible information to facilitate its operations in the Country.
