Nigerian troops kill seven Boko Haram terrorists, capture arms, ammunition in Borno

Troops of Headquarters 22 Brigade and 112 Task Force Batallion, on Sunday (April 11, 2021) decisively neutralised Boko Haram and Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP), terrorists who were lying in wait along Ngwom – Mafa – Maiduguri road to attack soldiers.

Confirming the report, Director Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Mohammed Yerima, said the troops who had continued to dominate the axis through massive clearance, patrols and ambushes, sprang the surprise attack on the terrorists who had been brutalising the people in the area and denying them of their peace and livelihood.

Yerima said seven members of Boko Haram were instantly neutralised while five Ak 47 rifles were captured along with several other items including suspected psychotropic substances in the encounter that was fierce and blistering.

He said the terrorists laid the ambush targeting troops along the road but were however trapped, overpowered and obliterated in their own webs.

Yerima said the troops successfully cleared the area of all suspected terrorists elements and continued their onward movement to Maiduguri.

He said the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Ibrahim Attahiru had congratulated the “gallant troops” and urged them to maintain their high and satisfactory morale, and fighting efficiency.
