A Nigerian pilgrim, Hajiya Zainab from Plateau State, has reportedly returned a lost sum of $5,000 to its rightful Russian owner during the ongoing pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia.
The incident occurred in the holy city of Makkah, where thousands of pilgrims are gathered for the Hajj rituals.
Witnesses reportedly said that Hajiya Zainab discovered the misplaced envelope containing the money near the Grand Mosque.
Without hesitation, she reported the find to the Nigerian Hajj delegation, who worked swiftly with Saudi authorities to trace the Russian pilgrim, who owned the money.
The grateful Russian tourist reportedly shed tears and thanked Zainab for her exemplary honesty.
The Plateau State Pilgrims Welfare Board and Nigerian officials have since lauded Zainab’s action as a model of upright conduct, urging other pilgrims to emulate her integrity.
Her story has gone viral on social media, drawing admiration from around the world for her principled behaviour amid the spiritual journey.
