The Nigerian Forum of the African Bar Association (AFBA-NF) on Wednesday congratulated Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah, the Catholic Arch-Bishop of Sokoto Diocese as he clocked 70 years.
In a statement, AFBA-NF chairman, Dr Samson Osagie said Bishop Kukah was arguably one of the most vociferous advocates for justice, rule of law, responsive governance and an egalitarian society.
Osagie said apart from his arduous task of delivering on his ecclesiastical duties to the Catholic faith, Bishop Kukah had devoted a huge part of his time, energy and resources advocating good governance in Africa and seeking justice for the oppressed.
He said his courage and tenacity for speaking truth to power had never waned even at the risk of his well-being.
“At 70, the AFBA-Nigeria Forum therefore finds it imperative to salute Bishop Kukah, a man of honour and integrity for his dogged fight for justice and good governance, particularly for the Nigerian people. We wish him many more years of service to God and humanity,” Osagie added.
