Nigerian Army troops rescue 16 kidnap victims in Kajuru, Kaduna

Nigerian Army personnel, stationed within the 1 Division area of responsibility in Kaduna State, have effectively thwarted a kidnapping endeavor orchestrated by a violent extremist and insurgent faction, subsequently liberating the abductees situated in Tantatu Community of Kajuru Local Government Area, Kaduna State.

According to a statement released by Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, the Director of Army Public Relations, prompt action was taken upon receiving actionable intelligence on the 17th of March 2024, at approximately 10:30 pm.

Nwachukwu said troops swiftly pursued the insurgents, who had previously assaulted the community and taken several villagers hostage.

Upon arrival at the scene, the troops engaged the insurgents in a determined firefight, resulting in the successful rescue of 16 kidnapped individuals.

He said ongoing efforts persisted as troops continued to scour the surrounding areas, aiming to locate and liberate any remaining captives while staunchly impeding the malevolent activities of the insurgents.

In commendation of their accomplishments, Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja, praised the troops for their successful rescue mission and urged them to maintain vigilance as they proceeded with counter-insurgency operations aimed at restoring peace and stability to troubled regions across the nation.
