Nigerian Army troops raid Ughelli gun runner’s stash, seize arms cache

In a meticulously executed operation aimed at curbing the proliferation of illegal arms in the South-South Region, Nigerian Army personnel have successfully dismantled an armoury housing a substantial cache of weaponry and ammunition.

This operation took place within Olota Community and its environs, situated in the Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State.

Acting on actionable intelligence, the troops conducted a targeted raid on the identified armoury concealed within the premises of Mr. Kenneth, a notorious figure known for trafficking firearms within the aforementioned community.

The search of the armoury yielded significant results, including the seizure of one G3 Rifle, 853 rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition, and 19 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition.

Furthermore, the scope of the operation expanded to encompass adjacent areas, leading to the discovery of additional weaponry.

Among the findings were four G3 Rifles with accompanying magazines, one Pump Action Semi-Automatic Gun, three Sub-Machine Guns (SMG) along with their magazines, and 476 Live Cartridges.
In addition to the firearms, the troops also confiscated five locally manufactured firearms, a substantial quantity of a substance suspected to be cannabis sativa stored in a large plastic bag, and two Speed Boats equipped with 75 Horsepower outboard engines.

The operation culminated in the apprehension of three suspects involved in the illicit arms trade.

The Nigerian Army remains steadfast in its commitment to neutralizing threats posed by criminal elements through the eradication of illegal munitions within the region.
