Nigerian Army troops neutralize terrorists, rescue women and children in North East

Troops of the 7 Division Nigerian Army have persistently eradicated the remnants of the Islamic State of West African Province and their JAS counterparts in the North East region of Nigeria.

According to a statement issued by Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, the Director of Army Public Relations, a decisive clearance patrol was executed on Friday, March 22, 2024, by a Combat Team (CT) of the Division. This operation resulted in the successful clearance of six villages where terrorists had taken refuge with their hostages.

During the operation, the Combat Team encountered the terrorists and engaged them in a fierce gun battle, resulting in the elimination of five terrorists. Furthermore, the valiant troops managed to liberate 78 individuals, consisting of 35 women and 43 children who were being held captive by the terrorists.

Nwachukwu further disclosed that the areas cleared by the Combat Team include Ngurusoye, Sabon Gari, Mairamri 1 and 2, Bula Dalo, and Bula Dalo extension, along with the Yamanci and Gargaji general areas.

Recovered items from the operation included a terrorist flag and a mobile phone belonging to the insurgents.

The rescued victims are currently under custody for preliminary investigation and profiling.

He emphasized that the troops remain steadfast in their commitment to sustaining the momentum of Operations Desert Sanity III, which aims to completely eradicate terrorists and insurgents from the North East region.
