Troops of the Nigerian Army’s 6 Brigade, in collaboration with operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), have intercepted two impostors posing as police officers in Taraba State.
The suspects were caught transporting over a thousand blocks of cannabis in two Toyota Hilux vehicles.

Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations for the 6 Brigade, Lt. Umar Muhammad, announced this in a statement issued on Wednesday.

He said the operation was carried out following actionable intelligence.
“Acting on credible intelligence, our troops, working alongside NDLEA personnel, intercepted two individuals dressed in mobile police uniforms at Takum Junction, Wukari LGA,” Muhammad said.

He explained that upon inspection, the vehicles were found to be loaded with substances suspected to be cannabis.

Preliminary checks confirmed that neither of the suspects is a serving police officer.
“One of them, aged 71, is a dismissed Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), while the other is 41 years old. The second Hilux was abandoned when its occupants fled after sighting our troops,” he added.
The cannabis—packed in 1,134 compressed blocks—was reportedly transported from Akure, Ondo State, and was en route to Adamawa before being intercepted.

The arrested individuals and the seized vehicles have since been handed over to the NDLEA office in Wukari for further investigation and prosecution.
Brigadier General Kingsley Uwa, Commander of the 6 Brigade, commended the troops and the NDLEA for their vigilance and teamwork.
“This operation is a testament to our commitment to keeping Taraba hostile to criminals and drug traffickers,” Uwa stated.
He also called on residents to remain alert and continue sharing timely, credible information with security agencies to support ongoing efforts to rid the state of crime.
