A few months after Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala made history as the first African keynote speaker at the world’s largest anti-fraud conference of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) — where she also received the prestigious Cressey Award — Nigeria has achieved yet another milestone.
The ACFE has officially nominated Nigeria’s own David Nkang Odu for election into its Board of Regents, the governing body of the world’s largest anti-fraud organisation.
With this nomination, David Odu becomes the first Sub-Saharan African ever nominated for this highly respected global leadership position.
This historic recognition comes at a pivotal time, as Nigeria recently exited the FATF Grey List, marking renewed international confidence in the nation’s anti-corruption and financial integrity framework.
David’s nomination further amplifies these gains — reflecting Africa’s growing leadership in the global fight against fraud and illicit financial flows.
“We express profound gratitude to the ACFE for recognising Nigeria’s contribution to global anti-fraud efforts.
“Now, we call on Certified Fraud Examiners worldwide to cast their votes for a candidate who embodies inclusion, innovation, and integrity.
“🗳 Vote for David Nkang Odu — representing Africa’s voice in the global fraud examination community.
“#ACFE #DavidOdu #Nigeria #Leadership #Governance #AntiFraud #Integrity #Innovation #Inclusion #FATF #AfricaRising,” a post in David Odu Facebook page said.
