Speaker of the Niger State House of Assembly, Hon. Abdulmalik Mohammed Sarkin-Daji, has commended the Department of State Services (DSS) and Nigerian Army for reportedly neutralising over 50 bandits in the state and rescuing seven kidnapees in the process.
The Speaker made the commendation on Tuesday, few hours after DSS operatives and soldiers neutralised over 50 out of over 300 bandits who attempted to invade Kumbashi village in Mariga Local Government Area of the state.
Hon. Dogon-Daji represents Mairiga constituency in the State House of Assembly.
Confirming the operational success of the DSS and soldiers, the Speaker said he was reliably informed by his constituents that the security operatives, even though largely outnumbered by the bandits, deployed intelligence and their superior training and firepower in neutralising the bandits.
“Yes, it is true. The DSS really dealt with the bandits. In fact, so successful were the operatives that my constituents reported seeing the bandits panickedly dismembering corpses of their killed colleagues, loading them in sacks, and hauling them off on motorcycles,” the Speaker said.

Following the onslaught against the bandits, the Speaker said the security forces were able to rescue seven persons earlier kidnapped by the bandits.
He added that several heads of rustled cattle were also recovered from the bandits.
Recall that the DSS had a few weeks ago, in Wawa, the same Niger State, captured alive Abubakar Abba,
leader of Mahmuda, one of the most notorious terror groups in Nigeria.
