Chairman of Accent and Rover Strategic Communications Group and Publisher of KTH Daily, Ima Niboro, has congratulated veteran journalist and publisher, Mr. Mideno Bayagbon, on his 65th birthday, describing him as a pillar of contemporary Nigerian journalism whose career has been defined by integrity, courage and professional excellence.

In a goodwill message issued on Saturday, Niboro paid tribute to Bayagbon’s enduring contributions to the media industry, noting that his leadership in the newsroom and beyond has left a lasting imprint on Nigeria’s journalistic landscape.

Bayagbon, a former Editor of Vanguard Newspaper, was praised for helping to consolidate the paper’s reputation as one of the country’s most influential and credible news platforms during his tenure. Niboro said Bayagbon’s stewardship strengthened the culture of editorial discipline, factual reporting and accountability.

He also commended Bayagbon’s role as Co-Founder and Publisher of The News Guru, noting that the platform reflects his ability to adapt to the evolving dynamics of digital journalism while maintaining professional standards.

According to Niboro, Bayagbon’s career stands as a model for younger journalists, particularly in an era when the pressure to sacrifice ethics for expediency continues to challenge the profession.

“As a former Presidential Spokesman and former Chief Executive Officer of the News Agency of Nigeria, I understand the demands of leadership in sensitive editorial positions. Mideno has consistently navigated those responsibilities with admirable balance, courage and dignity,” Niboro stated.

He described Bayagbon as a media leader whose work underscores the role of journalism in nation-building, stressing that his influence extends beyond the stories he edited or published to the many professionals he has mentored over the years.

Niboro wished the media icon many more years of good health, fulfilment and continued impact, expressing optimism that his future contributions to the industry would be even more significant.

Bayagbon clocks 65 amid accolades from colleagues and admirers across the country, marking a milestone in a career widely acknowledged as distinguished and principled.
