New high-speed rail link to connect cologne and Brussels airport

A new direct high-speed rail service will connect Cologne with Brussels Airport starting Sept. 7, German rail operator Deutsche Bahn announced Thursday.

The trains, operated using the latest generation of ICE high-speed models, will run twice daily with a journey time of approximately two hours.

After stopping at Brussels Airport, the service will continue to Antwerp.

En route, the trains will also stop in Aachen, Liège and Leuven.

The morning departure is scheduled to arrive at Brussels Airport at 8:29 a.m.

The new connection is expected to strengthen cross-border travel between western Germany and Belgium, offering passengers a direct rail alternative to road and air routes.
