NES FCT chapter to induct new members in Abuja

The Nigerian Environmental Society (NES), Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Chapter, has announced its upcoming induction ceremony for new members, scheduled for December 6, 2024, in Abuja.

In a statement Publicity Committee Chairman Dr. Jacob Okobi said the event was poised to bring together a wide array of environmental professionals, policymakers, advocates, and key stakeholders from across the FCT, highlighting the society’s commitment to promoting sustainable development in Nigeria.

He said the induction of new members marks a significant milestone in the society’s mission to build a robust network of experts capable of driving impactful environmental policies and initiatives.

The new members will have the opportunity to contribute to NES programs, collaborate on innovative projects, and engage in advocacy efforts aimed at influencing policy frameworks for a sustainable future.

NES President, Dr. Efegbidiki L. Okobia, will deliver the opening address, emphasizing the importance of professional unity and cooperation in addressing Nigeria’s environmental concerns. He is expected to underscore the need for a multi-sectoral approach to tackle complex issues such as climate resilience, green energy adoption, and environmental education.
In addition, a lineup of keynote speakers from various sectors, including government agencies, academia, private industries, and non-governmental organizations, will share their expertise.

They will offer insights into emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in environmental management both within Nigeria and on the global stage.

Speaking ahead of the event, Tpl. Leke Olushola Emmanuel, Chairman of the NES FCT Chapter, expressed optimism about the society’s future and its growing influence in shaping environmental discourse in Nigeria.

“The induction of new members signifies our commitment to expanding the society’s reach and impact.
