In the aftermath of a harrowing banditry attack in the Saya Saya Community of Ikara Local Government Area, Kaduna, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has mobilized its resources to provide essential relief to affected households.

The federal government, in demonstration of its commitment to aiding those impacted by the crisis, authorized the distribution of relief materials to no fewer than 400 households in the region.

The relief efforts, carried out through a direct distribution exercise conducted by NEMA’s North West Zone staff members, encompassed a comprehensive array of support.

Affected individuals received a combination of food provisions, non-food items, and essential building materials aimed at alleviating the hardships caused by the recent banditry attack.

Alhaji Abbani Imam Garki, the Zonal Coordinator for NEMA’s North West Zone, served as the emissary for the agency’s Director General, Mustapha Habib Ahmed, conveying the heartfelt sympathy of the Federal Government.

During a brief address, Alhaji Garki expressed solidarity with the affected communities and offered prayers for lasting peace in the region.

Emphasizing the importance of judicious utilization of the relief materials, Alhaji Garki urged the beneficiaries to deploy the resources to mitigate their current challenges effectively.

The Zonal Coordinator was represented during the distribution exercise by Ruqayya Amin, the Assistant Chief Administrative Officer, who led the operation in the presence of various stakeholders.

Notable figures attending the event included Aliyu Mustapha Abdullahi, the representative for Ikara/Kubau Federal Constituency, alongside other community stakeholders.

During the proceedings, Mr. Abdullahi conveyed the gratitude of the beneficiaries, acknowledging NEMA’s swift response and ongoing commitment to supporting distressed individuals while implementing measures to address disasters nationwide.

The relief initiative was prompted by a recent banditry attack on Saya Saya community, resulting in the tragic loss of nine lives during a mosque worship session, with several others sustaining injuries.

NEMA’s intervention stands as a beacon of hope, aiming to provide solace and assistance to those affected by the unfortunate incident.
