The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) North Central Zone, on Tuesday, commenced the distribution of relief materials to the victims of 2022 flood disaster in Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The North Central zonal Coordinator, Mr Eugene Nyelong, said the items were meant to cushion the effect of the disaster.
Represented by Nurudeen Musa, head of Search and Rescue Department, the Coordinator said the items were not meant to compensate the victims but to cushion the effect of the disaster on them.
He assured the victims that only the affected would benefit from the relief items.
Receiving the items on behalf of the victims, the Deputy speaker of State, House of Assembly Hon. Ahmed Maje appreciated the federal government through NEMA for the items.
The deputy speaker who was represented by his Special Assistant Hon. Aminu Abdullahi also assured the affected persons that he was going to work closely with NEMA to ensure that all the victims benefited from the relief items.
The relief materials worth millions of naira included food and non-food items.
The flag off ceremony of the distribution took place at the Local government Secretariat, Wase.
