NEDC distributes Briquette-making machines to youths

The North East Development Commission (NEDC) has taken a giant stride towards youth empowerment in the Northeast region by presenting Briquette Making Machines to youth trained in the art of Briquette Making.

The presentation ceremony, which was held at the NEDC headquarters in Maiduguri, was presided over by the Managing Director of the Commission, Mohammed Alkali.

Addressing the trainees, he reassured of the commission’s commitment to equipping young people with practical skills and resources that enable self-sufficiency while driving economic development in the region.

The beneficiaries of the initiative had recently underwent comprehensive training in briquette production, courtesy of NEDC. With the provision of these machines, and with the presentation of the machine are employed to turn their skills into sustainable livelihoods.

Briquette Making Machines are designed to convert waste biomass into high-quality briquettes, providing a cleaner and more efficient alternative to traditional fossil fuels. By promoting the use of renewable energy sources, the initiative aligns with global efforts to reduce carbon emissions and combat environmental degradation.

The project, apart from environmental benefits, would build the economy of the people as the availability of locally produced briquettes could create new markets, reduce reliance on expensive and polluting fuels, and encourage entrepreneurship among the trained youths.

The distribution of the machines marks an important milestone in the NEDC’s ongoing efforts to empower youth and foster sustainable energy solutions in the northeast.
