Hours after the media space was inundated by the death of Registrar of National Examination Council, NECO, Professor Godswill Obioma, via assassination, a contrary account by the Council has gone viral, saying the Registrar died in his sleep of heart failure.
Director of Human Resources of NECO, Abdul Mustapha, according to Plus TV Africa gave this counter narrative to journalists on Tuesday morning.

He said “Professor Obioma died in his sleep as a result of heart failure.”
As confusion reigns, the family of the Professor is expected to clear the air against the backdrop of a report by the Peoples Gazette.
The Peoples Gazette, which broke the news, claimed to have spoken with the wife of the dead Professor on phone.
There was another social media post in which an anonymous reporter was quoted to have said:”I am sincerely sorry for reporting the news claiming that NECO REGISTRAR was assassinated. I was confused by a section of the media. The truth is that he actually died of heart attack in his Minna Home. Beware of Nigerian Media. May his soul rest in peace.”
This may have cleared the confusion, but watchers of the development believe a clear and emphatic statement by the family will settle the confusion.
