The operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested two Malians, Mohammed Demoele, aged 38, and 56-year-old Coulibaly Maliki, at Ebute Ero jetty in Lagos State for attempting to export 34.2kg bottles of new psychoactive substance, Akuskura, to Mali through Cotonou, Benin Republic.
The NDLEA spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, disclosed this via a statement made available to The Conclave on Sunday.
Babafemi noted that the anti-drug agency officers also intercepted 100 compressed blocks of Cannabis Sativa weighing 73.500kg and concealed inside animal feeds in Taraba State on Thursday.
He added that the NDLEA operatives equally arrested a physically challenged drug dealer, Abdulraham Mohammed, in Ogun State on Saturday, noting that 104kg of compressed Cannabis Sativa was recovered from him.
The NDLEA spokesman stated that another suspect, Safiya Bello, was arrested in the Shagamu area of Ogun State with 27kg of the psychotropic substance.
Speaking on the arrests and seizures, the NDLEA Chairman/Chief Executive, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (retd.), commended the anti-narcotic officers for their resilience just as he charged them and others across the country to intensify ongoing offensive action against drug cartels and traffickers wherever they may be located in any part of Nigeria.
