These arrests were made possible through coordinated interdiction efforts, resulting in the seizure of over 7,609 kilograms of assorted illicit drugs in eight states.

In a statement issued by the Director of Media and Advocacy at NDLEA Headquarters in Abuja, Mr. Femi Babafemi, it was disclosed that a significant portion of the seizures occurred in Nasarawa state.

NDLEA operatives acted upon credible intelligence to intercept a truck transporting cannabis sativa from Akure, Ondo state to Shabu area in Lafia, Nasarawa state.

Three suspects were arrested in connection with this seizure.

Additional operations conducted in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) resulted in the arrest of individuals attempting to transport substantial quantities of cannabis sativa concealed in trucks.

Similar arrests were made in Ondo, Edo, Kano, and Lagos states, where suspects were apprehended with various illicit substances including tramadol, rohypnol, and codeine syrup.

Of particular note is the apprehension of a 42-year-old suspected supplier of illicit drugs to insurgents in Borno state, underscoring the agency’s efforts to disrupt the nexus between drug trafficking and insurgency activities in the region.

In Anambra state, six suspects, including a six-month pregnant woman, were arrested for their involvement in illicit substance trafficking.

Similar operations were carried out in Lagos state, resulting in the arrest of several suspects involved in drug-related activities.

In addition to enforcement actions, NDLEA commands across the country have intensified advocacy efforts under the War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) initiative.

These efforts include sensitization lectures in schools, markets, worship centers, and communities, aimed at raising awareness about the dangers of drug abuse and promoting preventive measures.

Brigadier General Mohamed Buba Marwa (Retd), Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of NDLEA, commended the exemplary performance of the agency’s commands in Nasarawa, FCT, Ondo, Kano, Borno, Edo, Anambra, and Lagos states.

He urged all personnel to continue surpassing past achievements in their efforts to combat drug supply and demand reduction nationwide.
