NDE, Disect Society partner to empower unemployed Osun youths

The federal government has been commended for its huge investment in jobs creation, poverty reduction and youths empowerment.

The Team Leader of the Disect Society of Nigeria, Mr Olukunmi Akinade, gave the commendation in Osogbo the Osun State Capital, while speaking at the orientation and sensitisation programme organised by the Society for unemployed persons in the state in conjunction with the National Directorate of Employment (NDE).

Akinade emphasised that the issue of joblessness among the teeming population is highly worrisome and requires a concerted effort by all well meaning individuals and groups to address the the issue frontally.

According to him, Disect Society, has introduced a new dimension to tackling the menace through a well packaged products and value added services, such as cooperative venture, vocational skills and entrepreneurship training, grant- talent development and scholarship.

He said for any nation to grow in the right economic direction, her citizens must develop entrepreneurial skills in small, medium and large enterprises, arguing that any nation found wanting in this regard would definitely remain backward.

Also speaking at the occasion, the NDE Director General Mallam Abubakar Nuhu Fikpo, who was represented by the NDE State Coordinator, Mr Julius Fakunle, said the NDE’s approach of impacting skills to unemployed persons to enhance their self esteem and become self reliant, has become a saving grace to reduce tension and social unrest among the unemployed youths, who are always bubbling with a lot of energy, that could be positively deployed for national development.

He assured that the NDE would continue to partner with all the stakeholders in order to reduce to the barest minimum the rate of unemployment in the country.

The NDE boss admonished all the unemployed persons in the country to tap into a window of opportunities provided by the NDE and Disect Society, in the areas of vocational skills acquisition, as well as entrepreneurship training.
