Ahead of the expiration of the seven days ultimatum issued by ex-Niger Delta warlord, High Chief Government Ekpemupolo aka Tompolo to the federal government for the inauguration of a substantive board for the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio, on Thursday arrived Oporoza, headquarters of Gbaramatu kingdom to appeal to the popular freedom fighter to rescind his decision.
The Delta State Governor Sen Ifeanyi Okowa represented by the deputy Governor, Barr Kingsley Otuaro, had stated that the State Government wanted the right thing to be done regarding the NDDC board.
The Deputy Governor disclosed this while addressing Senator Akpabio at Oporoza.
According to Ossai Ovie Success, Special Assistant on Media to the Delta State Governor, Akpabio was received on arrival a the Osubi Airport in Delta State by the state Deputy Governor, Deacon Kingsley Otuaro and others en route to Oporoza.
Tompolo had last Sunday issued a 7-day ultimatum to the Federal Government to inaugurate a substantive board for the NDDC, vowing that failure to do so would lead to the nation’s economy particularly in the Niger Delta crumbled.
