● Dickson orders emergency NEC meeting June 3 as party warns against “desperate propaganda”

The Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, has disowned a wave of fake results circulating online, warning Nigerians to disregard any list of primary winners posted on social media.

In a statement signed by National Publicity Secretary Osa Director Esq, the party said only its National Executive Council, NEC, has the authority to release official outcomes of the nationwide primaries held May 28-29, 2026.

“The general public is hereby urged to disregard the various results circulating on social media as the outcome of the nationwide primaries conducted by the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC,” the statement read.

On the order of National Leader and former Bayelsa governor, Senator Seriake Dickson, NDC has called an emergency NEC meeting for Wednesday, June 3, 2026 in Abuja.

NEC members are expected to arrive June 2 for a pre-NEC meeting to collate and ratify results from all states before any announcement is made.

“The results of the primaries are with the National Executive Council, NEC of our great party. They are solely responsible for announcements of results,” Osa Director stated.

—Official list to INEC only—

The party said stakeholders and the public will be “availed of the results of our primaries when we send the list of candidates to fly our party’s flag to INEC”.

The move comes amid growing confusion online where unverified “winners’ lists” have been trending since the primaries ended, with aspirants and supporters claiming victory in different states.

NDC’s warning signals a crackdown on what it called “desperate propaganda” and attempts to pre-empt the party’s internal process.
