Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS) has published the identities of some inmates who escaped from the Owerri Custodial Centre, Imo State.

About 1,884 inmates reportedly escaped from prison during the attack, according to the NCS.

78 of the escaped inmates were reported, as of Thursday, to have either been found or voluntarily returned to the facility.

Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, during a visit to the facility in Owerri, said inmates who returned voluntarily would not face sanctions for escaping from custody and those who decided otherwise would be prosecuted.
