The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), in collaboration with WASCO Oil Servicing Company and TotalEnergies, launched a specialised Rig Site Cutting Services and Treatment training programme on Wednesday at Casoni International Hotel.

Leading the NCDMB delegation, Mr. Joseph Samuel, Supervisor of Human Capacity Development, emphasised the Board’s dedication to fostering local expertise in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector.

“Developing in-country capacity is a core pillar of our mandate,” Samuel stated, encouraging trainees to fully engage to maximize their learning.

The 12-month program blends classroom and on-the-job training, with a significant focus on Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) training, alongside modules like project management, soft skills, document control, and Tropical Basic Offshore Safety Induction & Emergency Training (T-BOSIET).

The HSE training is designed to equip trainees with critical skills to ensure safe operations on rig sites. It covers workplace hazard identification, risk assessment, emergency response protocols, and adherence to environmental regulations specific to oil and gas operations.

Trainees will also learn safe handling of equipment and materials, ensuring compliance with industry safety standards.

Representatives from WASCO and TotalEnergies highlighted the collaborative effort to empower Nigerian youths with technical skills, noting that the HSE module aligns with global best practices to minimize workplace incidents and promote sustainable operations.

The training aims to prepare participants for real-world challenges in the energy sector.

Organizers expressed confidence that the initiative, particularly its robust HSE component, will produce skilled professionals to drive Nigeria’s oil and gas industry forward.

The ceremony concluded with a group photograph of NCDMB, WASCO, TotalEnergies representatives, and trainees, marking the program’s official start.
