The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has called for justice over the killing of a pregnant female lawyer, Bolanle Raheem, by a police officer on Christmas Day.
The lawyer, her sister and four children were returning from a Christmas outing in their car about 11.00 a.m. when the policeman tried to stop them.
A source quoted by NAN said Raheem was trying to make a U-turn under the Ajah Bridge when the ASP allegedly shot at her vehicle and the bullet hit her.
Raheem was confirmed dead at an undisclosed hospital.
Reacting to the incident, the NBA National Publicity Secretary, Akorede Lawal, described Raheem’s killing as unfortunate, noting that the president of the association, Yakubu Maikyau, was monitoring the situation.
Lawal wrote on his Twitter handle, “We are aware of this unfortunate incident. This is yet another crime against a lawyer. Regrettably, our member is gone. The NBA President @YCMaikyauSAN is right on this and we shall ensure that justice is duly served.”
