Stakeholders in the national assembly have called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, to beam its searchlight on the outgoing clerk to the national assembly, Architect Amos Ojo, who has refused to proceed on his compulsory three-month pre-retirement leave.

They disclosed that his continued stay in office suggested that he was up to some foul play and ulterior motives.

They added that he must have influenced the presiding officers and commission to allow him spend his compulsory three-month pre-retirement leave in office.

The fear among stakeholders is that Ojo’s stsy back would enable him to carry out his nefarious activities.

A staff member said that for him to have insisted on staying back and even going ahead to get the nod by the respective authorities, even when he knew about what the rules prescribe, had insinuated him into a devious plan to manipulate expenditure of the finances of the NASS.

A staff mrmber said: “One wonders why he’s so hell bent on remaining in office without an agenda.”

Another staff member called on the EFCC to remain vigilant and at alert to check the activities of Architect Amos Ojo while in office for the next three months, especially with ongoing contracts and its Bills of Quantity and new ones within his three months illegal stay in office.

“There should be an audit of his transactions within the period under review of his stay,” a staff member stated.

A stakeholder also averred that “a chief executive officer, who could remove as little as an air-conditioner and other items from his office in a truck on the night he was issued his letter to proceed on his pre-retirement leave, speaks volume of his capacity to injure the system badly.”

The consensus of the stakeholders is the fear of the economic damage the outgoing CNA would have done to the system, before he finally leaves by February 14, 2023.

They said this was the basis of their urgent call on the EFCC to beam its searchlight before he perpetrates his alleged corrupt enterprise.
