The Nasarawa State Police Command has confirmed the arrest and detention of two men in Obi local government area of the State for the rape of a 15-year old girl living with disability.
This was contained in a statement signed on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, CP Maiyaki Baba, by the Police Public Relations officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel on Friday.
Giving the facts of the case, the Police said that on 2/3/2023 about 6:30pm, a complaint was lodged at Obi Division, stating that one 24-year-old Aminu Hashimu and 18-year-old Lukman Dogara, (both males) of Owolosho street in Obi LGA criminally conspired and raped a 15-year-old teenage girl, (name withheld).
Upon receipt of the report, an investigation and manhunt for the suspects were launched by police operatives attached to Obi Division.
On 3/3/2023, the suspects were arrested at different locations both in Obi town and Lafia.
Preliminary investigation showed that the suspects lured the victim who had hearing impairment to their residence at Okpe Street, Obi, and had unlawful carnal knowledge of her.
The Police said that the suspects had already confessed to the commission of the crime.
Meanwhile, the victim had been taken to the hospital for medical examination.
CP Maiyaki Baba ordered a comprehensive investigation into the case.
The suspects would be arraigned upon conclusion of investigation.
