The National Agency for Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), Sokoto zonal office, has received 21 female and 1 male victims of human trafficking whose ages range between 16 and 25 years.
According to the agency, the victims were intercepted and rescued by the Nigerriene police in Niger Republic and were handed to the Nigeria Immigration service at Illela boarder command, Sokoto state on 29th August, 2021 and handed over to NAPTIP Sokoto zonal command on Monday.
NAPTIP said the victims are from Lagos, Ondo, Oyo, Delta, Imo and Edo states of Nigeria and are currently undergoing counseling and rehabilitation at one of the NAPTIP’s shelter.
