The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has denied any plan to hold any national convention to elect new executive members of the Association.
In a public notice signed by its Revolutionary President, Comrade Asefon Sunday Dayo, the association said its present leadership came on board through a popular electoral process in a national convention held at Old parade ground Abuja on 4th December, 2020.
Dayo added that the present executive committee members are just six months into their administration of one academic calender and “it therefore remains a mere attempt to distract their leadership by some unscrupulous elements who feed fat on crisis and disunity in the association.”
He said the rumoured self-declaration of some individuals by immediate past impeached president of NANS who was removed from office over a fraud and diversion of student project funds would be decisively addressed by the leadership.
Dayo said it took the effort of incumbent leadership and past leaders to prevail on the immediate past executive council members led by Comrade Ilogebe Chidi and Comrade Abubakar Gambo Mohammed, president and senate President respectively, including the facilitator of NANS Glo SIM card project, Amb Salahudeen A Lukman, to withdraw case of fraud and forgery against the impeached president, Danielson Bamidele at the Economic and Financisl Crimes Commission, EFCC and Police IGP Monitoring unit.
He said they did all to sort out soft landing for the embattled impeached President of NANS and yet he has turned round to cause confusion for the association.
Dayo assured the public that they “shall speak to him and his team of shameless distractors in the language they understand.”
