The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has announced the immediate withdrawal, suspension, and cancellation of 101 pharmaceutical products across the country.
In a statement released via its official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, the agency said the affected products are no longer permitted for manufacture, importation, distribution, sale, advertisement, or use within Nigeria.
The banned list, published on NAFDAC’s website, covers a wide range of medicines and health products, including antimalarials (such as various artemether/lumefantrine formulations and Artesunate/Amodiaquine combinations), cardiovascular drugs (valsartan products, amlodipine, Aprovasc), diabetes treatments (Januvia, Janumet, Amaryl), insulin and growth hormone injectables (Norditropin), inhalers, and eye drops.
Among the suspended products are some widely used medications like Abacavir tablets, Combination 3 tablets, and ASAQ tablets in different formulations.
The affected items were manufactured by several well-known pharmaceutical companies, including Sanofi Aventis Nigeria Ltd, Novartis Nigeria Limited, Bayer East Africa Limited, Healthline Limited, and Fensyl MHP Consulting Ltd, among others.
NAFDAC advised Nigerians to visit its website for the complete list of the banned products and their respective manufacturers.
