In a recent operation, Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Special Forces neutralized notorious terrorist kingpin Mustapha Abdullahi and five members of his group in Igabi Local Government Area (LGA), Kaduna State.
Confirming the report, Director of Public Relations and Information for the Nigerian Air Force, Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet said acting on intelligence received on August 31, 2024, indicating the presence of Abdullahi and his group near Sabon Gida Forest along Sabon Birni Road with suspected plans to kidnap, harm, or kill civilians, a team from the NAF 413 Force Protection Group was deployed to the area.
He sai that upon engaging the terrorists, who were on motorcycles, the criminals immediately opened fire on the Special Forces.
Gabkwet said the troops responded with superior firepower, successfully eliminating all six terrorists. Recovered items included five den guns, a locally fabricated sub-machine gun, live ammunition, assorted charms, lighters, SIM cards, and phone cases.
He said the operation is part of ongoing efforts to rid Igabi, Birnin Gwari, and surrounding areas of criminal activities.
Gabkwet commended the troops for their efforts and urged them to intensify operations to safeguard lives and property in the region.
