The Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai has conducted a successful air interdiction mission against terrorist remnants in Jubillaram, located in the southern Tumbus near Lake Chad.
According to Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet, Director of Public Relations and Information for the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), the operation was necessitated by persistent rainfall that flooded the terrorists’ enclaves, compelling them to relocate to higher and drier areas.
Gabkwet stated that the NAF conducted Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions on August 22, 24, and 26, 2024.
These missions identified several terrorists and their belongings within four makeshift structures, some hidden under trees and thick vegetation.
In response, precision airstrikes were executed, resulting in the destruction of most of the structures, including a probable armoury or logistics storage facility, indicated by thick black smoke. Several terrorists were neutralized during the operation.
This operation highlights the NAF’s dedication to its mandate of protecting the nation from terrorist threats. While the excess rainfall may have inadvertently revealed the terrorists, it was the NAF’s prompt and strategic actions that inflicted a significant blow on the insurgents.
The airstrikes have disrupted the terrorists’ operations and diminished their capacity to target civilians.
Gabkwet emphasized that the mission aligns with directives from the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, who recently instructed all Air Component Commanders to intensify efforts against terrorists and other criminal elements nationwide.
The successful strike on Jubillaram and other locations across the country confirms the effectiveness of these directives.
