The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has intensified its ongoing air interdiction operations under Operation FARAUTAR MUJIYA, targeting bandit networks in Northwestern Nigeria.
In a statement, Director, Public Relations and Information Nigerian Air Force Headquarters, Air Commodore Olusola F. Akinboyewa said on November 15, 2024, the Air Component of Operation FANSAN YAMMA carried out precision airstrikes in Zamfara State, neutralizing key loyalists of notorious bandit leaders Dan-Isuhu and Dogo Sule.
He added that the strikes targeted Babban Kauye village in Tsafe Local Government Area, identified as a strategic hub for criminal activities. Intelligence revealed that bandits had gathered there to plan coordinated attacks against military personnel and civilians along the Tsafe axis. Acting on this intelligence, the NAF launched a series of strikes, causing significant casualties among the criminals, including high-ranking members of the group.
Tsafe LGA has been a hotspot for bandit activity, with factions loyal to Dan-Isuhu and Dogo Sule notorious for targeting local communities and security forces. The latest airstrikes delivered a major blow to their operations, dismantling plans for imminent attacks and disrupting their safe havens.
Akinboyewa said the operation aligns with broader efforts to restore peace in the Northwest and degrade bandit networks. The NAF reaffirmed its commitment to working with other security agencies to protect the region and the nation from criminal threats.
